Ellen DeGeneres To Receive Mark Twain Award For Humor

Ellen DeGeneres has been selected by the Kennedy Center to receive this year’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. Ellen said in a statment: “It’s such an honor to receive the Mark Twain Prize. To get the same award that has been given to people like Bill Cosby, Tina Fey and Will Ferrell, it really makes me wonder . . . why didn’t I get this sooner?”
The award will be presented to Ellen at a ceremony on October 22nd that will be recorded for a later broadcast.

Bret Michaels and organizers of the Tony Awards have settled a lawsuit filed by Michaels after a 2009 incident in which he was hit in the head with a set piece and suffered injuries that contributed to a brain hemorrhage that nearly killed him in 2010. The terms of the settlement will not be made public.
In April 2010, about 10 months after the Tonys, Michaels suffered a brain hemorrhage. Michaels said it nearly killed him and that it may have been spurred by his head trauma at the Tonys. He later suffered a “warning” stroke. Doctors who treated him then found he had a hole in his heart. He had surgery in January 2011 to correct the ailment.
Michaels filed the suit last March, naming the Tony Awards and CBS, which broadcast the awards ceremony. Michaels’ attorney Alex Weingarten said in a statement “Mr. Michaels would like to thank his fans for their continued support.”

It’s finally official Britney Spears and Demi Lovato are joining ‘The X Factor.’ Kevin Reilly, President of FOX Entertainment just made the announcement moments ago at the Fox programming upfront held at New York’s Beacon Theater. Both Britney and Demi were in New York for the announcement and joined LA Reid and Simon Cowell on stage.
Simon Cowell said on stage “Well, we delivered. Rumors are one thing, delivering is something else. This has taken a year to get where we’ve got to today and I am thrilled to be able to confirm, as you can see, the return of LA Reid, the addition of Demi Lovato and the superstar Britney Spears.”
